Possibly starting a resin casting business

I'm located in southern Saskatchewan. I do a little bit of resin and
metal casting for myself at home. Recently I've been approached by a
UK based company to do some casting for them under license. They are
looking for people in different countries to produce their products
so that they can sell to a wider area and not have to worry about
postage and import taxes. They make a variety of movement trays and
some terrain, rivers, fortifications and what not for wargaming in
25mm and 15mm scales.
I have some ideas about the start up costs and possible returns for
this. This will be a small one or two person operation run in our
spare time. Once things are set up I would like to design some of my
own items for sale. I would be producing the UK company's items under
license or possibly do some casting to order.
So what I'm after is some information on where to buy bulk resin
casting materials. Up until now I've used Micromark's stuff for my
own use. But if I agree to this I'll need much larger quantities. And
I'd like to avoid mistakes for production. I can fill holes for my
own things but don't want to sell crap. I have some links but I'm
wanting to know other people's opinions on what companies are good.
I've never used a real vacuum pot for resin casting or mold making
either. For what I've done it hasn't been necessary. I did make a
home made vacuum chamber using a shop vac for suction. That seems to
have improved the quality of my casts a bit but I have no real ideas
about what pressures are necessary for high quality work.
Also there's a chance at casting a small line of metal miniatures.
I've been checking into moldmaking and spin casting equipment for
this. Kind of expensive for an uncertain business. Where can I buy
the various equipment, especially a spincaster? Any advice on what
companies and models are good? What's the most economical option for
starting up? I'm not experienced with spin casting and would
appreciate any tutorials or advice on this as well. To begin with we
would most likely have another company make our molds to order but
I'd like to enventually be able to do my own.
Thank you in advance,
Rory
