'Misery is the result of resources being finite, and human desire being infinite...'
Casting Call for 'Winter' a 15 minute short film being filmed in cooperation with the New School Film Department. Auditions are scheduled for Saturday afternoon (3-1-08) with shooting will take place March 25th, 26th, and 27th with the overall time commitment dependent on role. A SAG waiver will be available.
The story follows a family in a future where the Earth has become sterile, and society has been destroyed by civil war and famine. They are one of the last groups of people on the planet, and we find out to what extent a father will go to help his family survive.
Roles:
Male / 41-50 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
Calvin- Lead Weathered, lean, and stands very tall. Calvin is a man desperately trying to secure shelter for his family. He is a patriarch in all of the old fashion ideals of duty and responsibility. He was a rebel soldier in the 'last war' and has a violent side that he exposes in front of his family at the films dramatic climax.
Female / 25-30 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
Rosa- Lead lean, medium build, soft facial features. Rosa is Calvin's wife, and the mother of Dale, their daughter. Rosa has stayed with Calvin for many reasons, but love and fulfillment are not two of them. She is protective of her daughter, and tries to shelter her away from Calvin's violence, and the destruction of the world around them. Her youth and beauty have created conflict between her, Calvin, and other men.
Female / 6-10 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
Dale- Lead around 10. Small, quiet, and emotionally reserved. Dale is the daughter and narrator of this film. She is torn between her two parents. She loves them both, and relies on them both equally. She is the quiet observer type.
Male / 25-30 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
Aaron- Supporting role Shorter, with a medium build. Aaron is Calvin's antagonist. He is Sasha's father, and also believes in the responsibility and duty of providing for his child. He was a soldier in the war as well, but he fought in the war against the side Calvin was on. He and his son travel alone, and are in the same situation Calvin is. As of right now, this role will only be required on set for 1 day.
Male / 11-14 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
Sasha- Supporting role Lean, short hair, quiet but with a strong presence. Sasha is Aaron's son, and walks step for step with his father. He carries himself tightly, and is a man despite his age. As of right now, this role will only be required on set for 1 day.
Please respond with a Headshot and Resume attached to winter.the.film@gmail.com . I will respond back with a full synopsis and details about audition time and location. (Plan for union square area) Emphasis will be placed on interest and commitment to project over experience, but a good resume will surely help.
Auditions are currently being scheduled for Saturday afternoon/evening, some accommodations can be arranged if you can convince me. Please note that locations for this project are still being confirmed, so shooting may take place more than an hour from NYC, housing and transportation will be provided. And of course, complete credit, a copy of the finished material, and meals will be provided.

Kevin McShane from the Commercial Division of Fifi Oscard
Kevin is freelancing with several past attendees
ANNOUNCING OUR NEXT COMMERCIAL AGENT EVENT WITH KEVIN MCSHANE -
Monday, March 10th at 6pm
From Kevin McShane:
I am always impressed with the caliber of Jagger Kaye's students. Its
obvious that he takes the time to teach them both the practical
business as well as the rudiments of what makes an interesting
performance or audition. As someone who is still out there himself
auditioning and working, Jagger brings a practical working man's
perspective to his classes and that is truly unique
Kevin McShane
Owner
Fifi Oscard Agency
~~~~~
This Commercial Event is only open to those that have taken one of my
Commercial Intensives ONLY
Here are just a few that enjoyed our past events:
I am a working actress . I take Jagger's seminars to help me keep my
skills up up to par- and to meet top notch industry people. Jagger's
seminars are excellent- they are well run, small , informative ,
supportive-- and the price is the best in the industry that I know
of!. For me- they get results. I met Kevin McShane through a Jagger
worksop- I am now freelancing with Mr. McShane
Kathy Terrill
Thank YOU!!! I had so much fun the whole time (never thought that was
possible on a seminar). I felt completely comfortable to go in front
of Kevin because of the way you prepared us. Can't wait to do it
again!
THANK YOU!
Julia Price
Hey Jagger
I loved the seminar. The best part was being able to do it in front
of you first, almost like a mini dress rehearsal, and than being able
to do it with him. It really relaxed my nerves and I was able to be
myself. You will be seeing me in your seminars for sure! I'll think
about the classes.
Thank you soooo much,
Karen Summerton
of Fifi Oscard (NYC agency) is ready to meet you at an upcoming event
What will make this Commercial Event different from others is the fact
that all actors registered will be prepped before meeting Kevin &
In discussing this event with Kevin he stressed how many actors are
not fully prepared to meet him (from a reading standpoint) so he was
excited that someone with a Commercial Instructional background will
showcase themselves
The one-day event is Monday, March 10th at 6pm at The Producers
Club Theaters - 358 W. 44th St
Again this is open to only those that have taken my Commercial
BRAND NEW ACCOLADES:
Jagger,
I was really impressed by your class today. I've kind of been bragging about it all night! I just re-entered the legit world this fall, and of all the workshops I've taken, I learned the most from yours. I am soooo sold on your classes and excited to be in your Comedic Acting Class now!
You are a sweet, endearing and supportive acting coach who will fight for talent to discover new levels of their character.
Thanks again!
Jewel Elizabeth
Jagger,
What can I say.....I've taken several of your classes and each time I learn something new and worthwhile. Your most recent Comedic Class did wonders for me. You taught me how to 'act' by not acting and to be myself so that my natural talent and personality shine through. Because of your unique teaching, I've been called for more auditions and have had call-backs. I'm now waiting to hear if I got a role in a new Indie film. Thank you Jagger for being there for me, you're the best. You can count on me to take more of your classes and spread the word about you to my friends in the acting community.
