A/V is the story of Duane, a successful salesman who longs to be a writer but never quite finds the time. After a tragic and eye-opening experience, Duane abandons his current career path and takes a less glamourous (and less demanding) position as a hotel A/V guy. While his new job gives him time for creative dawdling, his colorful coworkers are not exactly inspiring. Is this the type of place to nurture one's dreams or one's hangover? A/V is a comedy (with a dash of drama) that looks at the subjectiveness of success and the idea that it is possible to be succeeding and not know it.
Auditions will be held on January 20th, at 160 Roy Street, in Lower Queen Anne, Seattle. The audition will consist of cold readings from the script. Please email udune@hotmail.com for an audition time slot. Those who wish to read for Duane, will be scheduled for a slot between 10 a.m. and noon. Those who wish to read for Baron will be scheduled for a slot between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Please bring a headshot (or recent photo) & resume to the audition. Although all roles in A/V will be unpaid (with meals provided), these particular roles are the heart of the film and will serve as a terrific centerpiece to any budding career.
Duane: Protagonist. Mid thirties. He is a runner. Clean-cut, dresses conservatively. He is a bit passive. Duane has always wanted to be a writer but spends more time reading about writing than actually writing. He always believes one day he'll get his shot, but he never really does anything to make his dream come true. Duane is in nearly every scene of the film.
Baron: Late 40s-early 50's. Tall & wiry and looks perpetually hung-over. Speaks with a slight creole accent. A blues guitarist who performs regularly at low-end bars. At first glance, one might think he's a bit off, but really he is an intelligent out-of-the-box thinker. Interacts mostly with Duane. Baron is in most of the scenes in Acts II & III.
