Nebunele Auditions for 'Medea Knows Best'
What is Medea Knows Best? It is an original play written by Alissa
Mortenson and Claytie Mason of Nebunele Theatre, inspired by
Euripides's tragedy Medea, set in the 1950's, incorporating live
music, humor, song and dance. The first version of this play was
workshopped in Seattle in the fall of 2007, and performed almost every
show to sold-out crowds. This April, we are headlining Divafest, a
women's play writing festival in San Francisco, and then coming back
to perform in Seattle for the month of May, with the final version of
this play.
Nebunele is a 3-year-old ensemble-based theatre company in Seattle;

What are we looking for?
The Women: Age range is flexible, late 20's to early 40's. There is a
lot of singing, some complicated harmonies, and we also get pretty
physical, so the level of comfort, with, say, climbing, standing,
singing, and dancing on small houses should sound like fun!
Betty: Kind hearted, innocent
Mabel: Opinionated, curious socialite
Dot: Reserved, strongly moral
The Men
Creon: Preferably 50 or older, Dynamic, Strong, Man of power and
distinction
Jason: (Age range is also flexible, late 20's to early 40's) A bit
unsure, kind hearted, stubborn
What do you mean San Francisco and Seattle?: We are traveling to SF
for the month of April, and so those involved must be able to join us
there for the whole month. Travel expenses and living accommodations
will all be provided as well as a stipend of $500. Upon our return
from the great city of SF we will be performing the show in Seattle
for a month long run in May. This is an excellent opportunity to work
with two great theatre companies! Exit Theatre of SF has been around
for 25 years. They have one of the longest running Fringe Theatre
festivals in the country, and are devoted to promoting fringe artists.
They are responsible for FRIGID, a new theatre festival in New York
City, and are generally amazing to work with and know! Check them out
at www.sffringe.
What are the dates of performance and rehearsal?
